About ETAPA

In the history of modern industry in Ethiopia, the textile sector has a long-standing presence, yet its efficiency at the required level has been notably lacking. One of the key factors contributing to this issue is the absence of a robust professional association within the sector. To address this gap, several previous attempts were made by various professionals in different locations. The culmination of these efforts occurred at the inaugural annual conference held on June 4, 2022, at Dire Dawa University.

Throughout this journey, the association was officially registered as the “Ethiopian Textile and Apparel Professionals Association (ETAPA)” by the Federal Civil Society Organizations Authority on September 22, 2022, under registration number 6440. The establishment of ETAPA was formalized during the conclusion of the 11th International Cotton, Textile, and Apparel Value Chain Africa conference, held at Bahir Dar University. The association has its headquarters organized at the Textile and Garment Industry Research and Development Center.
